Mess Hall

Where the Rider's come to eat.

Ouna walked in, Kitten riding on her shoulder, tail wrapped around her neck to keep her balance. Ouna looked back to find her friend.

Alanna waved to her friend. "Over here. How I got here before you, I don't know..."

Ouna shook her head ruefully. "Tell me about it!" She called back, making her way between other diners, wadeing throught the sea of people. Finally she sat down beside her friend. Then she sighed , you know I've forgotten completly to get food!" Kitten placed her head in her tiny clawed hands.

Alanna laughed. "Oh, Ouna... Go get food. I'll save your seat."

"Okay." she replied. She stood and walked over to the kitchen loading up on goods, making sure she got some honey cakes for Kitten. She returned with a full tray, and sat down, relishing the taste.

Alanna, spying some strawberries she had missed, grabbed one from her friend's plate. "Don't you love out of season strawberries?"

Ouna nodded/ "Mages seem to do pretty good on the growing of them. Watermelons..not so much. Remember they were so small and that poor bloke tried to place a growing spell on it? He said it worked and did it before the king and then 'KABOOM!' the watermelon exploded!" She laughed, holding her sides as she remember the king's face, teyign to wi[pe off the watermelon with out cracking up.

Alanna snorted. "I remember Thayet telling me about that. That sounded hilarious. Too bad George and I were at Pirate's Swoop when it happened..."

((You know, I wish Alanna and Jon had gotten together...))

"Man, it was almost worth having to be at that stuffy party!" Ouna replied with a snicker. I was no secret she thoguht less of parties than almost anyone.

((I don't know, I like George))

Well, except perhaps Raoul. Alanna giggled. She knew exactly what her large friend thought of parties. "I bet Raoul had a good laugh."

"He did. He about exploded his fancy shirt with a that mirth!" Ouna answered

Alanna sighed. "If only Corus weren't snowed in and I hadn't been in Pirate's Swoop."

"Ah, but the kids love the snow. I bet there was many a day where you stood and thought that there was more snow brought in than there was outside! I know the horses make me feel that way!" Ouna nodded sagely.

Alanna nodded. "Oh, how true that is! George and I had a hard time keeping the kids cleaned."

"But they adore it don't they?" Ouna asked chewing slowly on a tougher peice of meat. "And not only mortal children." She glanced at Kitten who blinked innoccently back at her. "I seem to remember a certain immortal that bounce in the snow like her namesake...."

"Oh, they do. Even Tkaa had fun with Kitten, I heard."

Ouna nodded smiled. "He was the only one who could turn snowballs into rock. And then eat it!"

Alanna winced. "I can only imagine that he didn't hit people with it..."

"Well he did, once, before he realized he was doing it. Then all the pages threw mostly at him tring to get him to do it again."

Alanna laughed. "I remember that group of pages..."

"Oh?" Ouna looked interested. Then she smiled wryly. "What did they throw at YOU?"

Alanna grimaced. "Rotten apples and rotten fruit. Wyldon flipped out in Mythros' name of course."

"Of course, I can only imagine. Was it because you're a femal knight?"

Alanna nodded. "Of course. Most of them were conservatives sons."
